Terms of Service

1. The service

catfu is a research workbench for cataloguing and searching content metadata (for example channel and video titles, identifiers, descriptions, and related research notes) so you can find material that matches a query without living in the YouTube app. Features may include Queries, gathering Workspaces and Canvases, notes and tags, Scout, API keys, and paid plan upgrades.

catfu is not an entertainment feed and is not a general-purpose file host. We do not grant you rights to download, copy, or redistribute third-party media beyond what the platform owners and applicable law allow.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You must provide accurate account information and keep credentials and sign-in methods secure. You may sign in with a magic link (email) and/or supported OAuth providers (for example Google, X, or Facebook). You may link more than one sign-in method to the same account. You are responsible for activity under your account.

You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. If you use catfu on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Violate law, third-party terms (including YouTube, Google, X, Facebook, or other platforms), or others’ rights.
• Use catfu to scrape, bulk-download, or redistribute third-party media in unauthorized ways.
• Probe, overload, or disrupt the service; bypass quotas, billing, or access controls; or reverse-engineer except where law permits.
• Upload malware, spam, or abusive content; impersonate others; or misuse API keys.
• Resell the service or share accounts in a way that circumvents plan limits without our written consent.

4. Your content and third-party content

You retain rights in content you create in catfu (for example notes, tags, and workspace configuration). You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display that content solely to operate and improve the service.

Catalogue entries may include metadata derived from public sources or APIs. That metadata remains subject to the rights of the original platforms and creators. You are responsible for ensuring your research use is lawful and compliant with those platforms’ terms.

5. Plans, billing, and quotas

Free and paid plans (for example Pro / Studio) may apply usage limits (channels, catalogue volume, jobs, storage, API use). Paid subscriptions are billed through our payment processors (for example Stripe). Fees are described in the product at purchase time. Taxes may apply. Except where required by law or stated at purchase, fees are non-refundable. We may change plan pricing or limits with reasonable notice for renewals.

6. API keys and integrations

If you create API keys, you must keep them secret and use them only as documented. We may revoke keys that abuse the service. Optional integrations (OAuth providers, Scout/search providers, mail, edge infrastructure) are subject to those third parties’ terms as well.

7. Intellectual property

catfu, its branding (including Griffe), UI, and software are owned by us or our licensors. The open-source catfu engine may be available under its own license on public repositories; product-hosted services remain under these Terms.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that catalogue data is complete or accurate.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) FIFTY US DOLLARS (US $50).

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using catfu at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach, risk, non-payment, or legal reasons. Provisions that by nature should survive (including IP, disclaimers, and liability limits) survive termination.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
